Provides aircraft rescue and firefighting at airfields, forward sites, and air stations. Rescues and extricates aircrew, suppresses and extinguishes fires, gives basic emergency medical care, handles salvage and overhaul, takes incident command, and responds to hazardous material incidents. At forward bases, also runs fire prevention, aircraft recovery, and refueling-point support.
